Betfred USA made news earlier this week when they announced that they are now offering online sports betting in both Iowa and Colorado. This news came at a perfect time for the company as the launch occurred before the 2020 NFL season.
Besides the launch in these two states, Betfred is expected to also launch in Nevada at some point this fall. Betfred also holds a sports betting license in Pennsylvania.
Even though Betfred missed out on an August launch that saw the return of live sports in the US, the company will get a boost from the popularity that football provides. Betfred is a huge name in the sports betting industry, and both Iowa and Colorado were excited to add them to the mix.
Betfred Group is based in the United Kingdom, but they have built a United States headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada. It has not taken the company long to find a path in the United States.
Betfred Making Deals in Colorado
Earlier this summer, Betfred was able to strike a deal with the Denver Broncos to become the team’s official sports betting operator. This deal will allow Betfred to use the official Denver Broncos logo and team stats at their sportsbooks.
Betfred will also have the rights to put up signage at Mile High Stadium, and the team will promote the company on both television and radio broadcasts. A sports betting lounge will also be set up outside of the stadium and will be operated by Betfred.
Betfred currently operates a retail sportsbook at Saratoga Casino Black Hawk, becoming just the second retail sportsbook in the US.
Online Betting Available in Iowa
Betfred opened up a retail sportsbook at Grand Fall Casino Resort & Golf in Larchwood, Iowa, last January. It was important for the company to offer retail sports betting before the Super Bowl a season ago.
Now, mobile sports betting is available from Betfred, but customers will still have to visit the casino in Larchwood before any bets can be placed. Iowa requires in-person registration, but that requirement will go away on January 1, 2021. 
Betfred will have some competition in Iowa as FanDuel just recently launched their mobile sports betting app as well.
Both States a Growing Market
Iowa has had sports betting much longer than Colorado, but both states are posting some big numbers. Iowa’s August numbers show that the industry is almost back to pre-COVID19 times, and Colorado is off to a great start.
Iowa has quickly emerged as one of the leaders in the Midwest portion of the country, and Colorado is expected to become one of the biggest markets of the United States. Both states have favorable laws that allow some of the biggest sports betting operators to offer sports betting.
Betfred will contribute to the growing numbers in each market, but there is plenty of competition in each state.
