The National Hockey League and its teams continue to find ways to break into sports betting, and one of the most historic franchises is now in as well. The Boston Bruins have announced that they have reached a multi-year partnership with DraftKings.
DraftKings already has a deal in place with the NHL that makes them an official sports betting, DFS, and iGaming partner of the league. While sports betting usually gets all of the attention, adding DFS into the deal is important as well.
This is also true in the new partnership that was announced as DraftKings is now the official DFS partner of the Bruins and of TD Garden. DraftKings will also get naming rights to the charity 50/50 raffle that takes place for Bruins’ home games.
When it comes to sports betting, it’s unclear how this deal will take shape, as that is not currently an option in the state. If and when sports betting is legal, then DraftKings will become the official sports betting partner.
Still No Massachusetts Sports Betting
Lawmakers in Massachusetts continue to work on a sports betting deal, but progress has been extremely slow. There is some optimism that a bill will be passed by the end of 2021, but there are several issues that still need to be sorted out.
Wagering on college sporting events continues to be a major point of discussion in the state, and it’s been hard to come to an agreement. The Massachusetts House appears to be in agreement on sports betting, but the Senate is where the major debate is coming from.
Lawmakers are in session to discuss this bill but don’t expect sports betting in Massachusetts until late 2022 at the earliest.
Fans at the Heart of Deal
The main goal of this deal is to create a better experience for fans of the Boston Bruins as well as fans of DraftKings. DraftKings will be taking over the social media accounts of the Bruins at times, which will add some new information and content.
Once sports betting becomes available in the state, you can expect that the two sides will be featuring odds on the Boston Bruins social media accounts. This will allow sports bettors to become fans of the team and vice versa.
Can Bruins Win Stanley Cup?
The Boston Bruins have been one of the most successful NHL teams in the past decade, but they aren’t off to a great start this season. There appears to be a clear group of Stanley Cup betting favorites, and the Bruins are not in that group.
Boston currently has betting odds set at +1600 to win the Stanley Cup, which would put them in the mix. The Bruins are dealing with a tough Eastern Conference, and there are loaded teams in the West as well.
The Colorado Avalanche are +600 to win the title this season, followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning at +850. Tampa Bay has won two straight titles and are loaded once again.
