The Basketball Tournament is set to kick off this weekend, and it will be the first live basketball action since the middle of March. Sports bettors missed out on betting on the NCAA Tournament and months of the NBA season, but this will give them a chance to get back in the game.
Earlier this week, The Basketball Tournament (TBT) announced a partnership with FanDuel, that will make the sports betting giant the official betting partner of the event. FanDuel Sportsbook has been looking for live sports to offer as well, and this partnership will benefit both groups.
TBT is an event that is held every year, and there are normally 64 teams in the field. COVID-19 has forced TBT to scale the tournament down to just 24 teams, and all of the games will take place in Columbus, Ohio.
Teams from all over the country applied to be selected to the 24-team field, and there is a $2 million prize to the winning team. Most of the teams are made up of former collegiate or professional players, and bettors will recognize a large number of the participants.
FanDuel Sportsbook will offer both sports betting and DFS contests centered around TBT. In return, FanDuel Sportsbook will have signage throughout the gymnasium, and they will get advertising rights during television broadcasts.
Sports bettors will have to learn a few different rules before placing bets on each game of TBT. The biggest rule change is what is known as the “Elam Ending,” which was used in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
