The NBA season is nearly one month old at this point in time, and the two teams from New York have
both gotten off to solid starts. The Brooklyn Nets are one of the best teams in the NBA, but the New York Knicks have played about as well as expected also.
Brooklyn remains the betting favorite to win the NBA Championship this season, with odds set as low as +260. The Nets are still trying to navigate the season without the help of Kyrie Irving, but it hasn’t exactly slowed them down a ton.
New York has gone 7-6 through its first 13 games, and they are going to have to pick up the pace a bit to remain in the playoff race. The Knicks have been getting terrific play from RJ Barrett, and there is some serious value in betting on them to win the division or conference this season.
There is still a long way to go in the 2021-22 NBA season, but now is the perfect time to get those future bets in. Outside of the state of New York, there are teams doing some special things as well, but the Nets and Knicks have played well enough to make them intriguing.
Winning the Atlantic Won’t Be Easy
The Nets and Knicks both compete in the Atlantic Division, and this feels like one of the toughest
divisions in the NBA. Brooklyn is the clear favorite to win the Atlantic at -310, and they are also the pick to win the East at +145.
Betting on the Nets to win the Atlantic isn’t really a great bet at this time, but taking them to reach the NBA Finals is. New York currently has odds set at +1600, and that would provide a huge payout if you think the Knicks can track down their rivals.
Lakers Winning the West?
It’s no secret that the Western Conference is traditionally the tougher group of teams, and it’s shaping
up that way again this season. The Los Angeles Lakers are the current favorites to win the West at +300, but that veteran team is dealing with some injury concerns.
The Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz both have odds set at +440, and the Warriors have been the best team in the NBA this season. Even if Brooklyn is able to win the East, they are going to be dealing with whichever great teams survives out of the West.
Can Durant Win MVP?
There is another way to bet on the Brooklyn Nets, and it comes in the form of Kevin Durant and his quest to win another MVP Award. Durant is arguably the best scorer in the NBA, but he isn’t the current betting favorite to win the MVP.
Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors is off to a remarkable start, and he is the current betting favorite at +260 to win the MVP. Kevin Durant is right behind him at +550, but it appears that he is going to have some work to do.
