The U.S. sports betting industry has a new leader as New York was able to shatter a previous record, and it was able to do so without a full month under its belt. New York posted a total sports betting handle of $1.625 billion during the first 23 days that online sports betting was available.
New Jersey had previously emerged as the top online sports betting market as that state has gone over the $1.3 billion total for monthly total betting handle. That state will report its monthly total at some point in February, but it’s already clear that New York is stealing some business.
The total sports betting handle in New York from January 24 to 30 was $449.3 million, and that continued the trend that had been established in the state. The gross gaming revenue during that time period was $21.6 million, and that was also well above what other states are expected to report.
Industry experts predicted that New York would eventually turn into a massive sports betting industry, but things were able to fall into place much quicker than expected.
Caesars Leading the Way
The Caesars Sportsbook in New York put up some massive numbers n January as it easily established itself as one of the top online sports betting options in the state. Caesars had a total sports betting handle of $615.5 million, and the online sports betting revenue was set at $55.8 million.
FanDuel and DraftKings were next on the list in both handle and total revenue, but there wasn’t a consistent sportsbook in second place. FanDuel posted the second-highest total sports betting handle at $501.7 million for the month. DraftKings had a much smaller handle than FanDuel, but it was second in the state with a total betting revenue of $27 million.
WynBET Now Available
There were just four online sportsbooks available when the state of New York was able to offer sports betting. That number has now climbed all the way up to seven different options, and it should continue to post impressive numbers moving forward.
WynnBET Sportsbook officially went live this weekend, and it will get a huge boost from both the Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche. As long as WynnBet can bring in close to $33 million for the month, then it will instantly become a massive betting market.
When Will Final Sportsbooks Launch?
Bally Bet and Resorts World Bet are the final two online sportsbooks that are waiting to launch in the state of New York. An official launch date has not yet been set for either site, but Bally Bet has at least made its intentions known, and it appears that it is willing to sit out for a while.
The leaders at Bally Bet are concerned about all of the online sports betting promotions being offered in the state, and that operator is not looking to get involved in that bidding war. The beginning of April looks like the earliest date that Bally Bet will launch, and Resorts World Sportsbook could go live around that time as well.
