Sports Books Gearing up for 2021 NFL Season

Sports Betting

The United States sports betting industry suffered a major letdown during the month of July, with a majority of states seeing a 20% drop in total handle from June. A bounce back was expected during the month of August, but those numbers won’t be revealed until later on in September.

The real jump should begin this month as the start of the NFL season begins on September 9. Betting on the NFL is by far the most popular betting market in the US, and this could be a record-setting few months.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night to officially kick off the 2021 season. Tampa Bay is a 7.5-point favorite over Dallas in the series opener, but there are other ways to bet on the game as well.

There is an additional regular season game in 2021, which will give sports bettors an extra week to make wagers on NFL games. This means that the NFL season will run from September 9 through February 13, and the betting action won’t stop throughout.

There are just a few days left to get in on Future betting markets as well, especially if you are wanting to take advantage of the favorable odds before the action begins.

Giants/Jets Underdogs in Week 1nfl300

The two New York teams are both listed as underdogs in Week 1, and it could be a long year for each team. The Giants are expected to at least contend in the NFC East while the Jets are going to struggle to compete in the AFC East.

The New York Giants host the Denver Broncos on Sunday, and they are currently three-point underdogs. The status of running back Saquon Barkley will have a major impact on the outcome in this matchup.

The Jets travel to Carolina for a matchup with the Panthers in Week 1, and this will be the debut of quarterback Zach Wilson. New York is currently a five-point underdog on Sunday in Carolina.

Odds to Win Super Bowl

One of the top future betting markets available when it comes to the NFL is a wager placed on the eventual Super Bowl champion. These odds have been out since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upset the Kansas City Chiefs last February.

The Chiefs are once again the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl, opening up at +500. Tampa Bay is right behind them at +650, and things could be setting up for a rematch on February 13.

The New York Giants are +7500 to win the Super Bowl while the New York Jets are +12000.

MVP Betting Favorites

Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is the current betting favorite to win the NFL MVP Award this season with odds set at +500. Aaron Rodgers is right behind the Chiefs quarterback with odds currently set at +1000.

Saquon Barkley has odds set at +850 to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year this season, and he should be in the mix for that award.
