On Monday, Tipico, a global sports betting operator, was approved to launch their sports betting app in New Jersey. Well-known across Europe, Tipico has been looking to enter the U.S. market for some time. Now, they can launch their first U.S. sportsbook in the Garden State.
In 2020, Tipico launched its U.S. headquarters in Hoboken, which helped get them into position for launching in the country. Experts say that Tipico is a sports betting app built for serious sports bettors, and U.S. customers should enjoy everything available.
“At Tipico, we knew that New Jersey would be the perfect state for us to kick-start our business in the U.S. because of its sophisticated mobile sports betting audience and mature regulatory and licensing environment,” Adrian Vella, Managing Director of U.S. Business for Tipico said in a statement. “With an incredible pool of local talent in the New York metro area, we’re thrilled to establish our headquarters in Hoboken and continue expanding our team.
Tipico to the U.S.
Tipico is finally going to be operating in the U.S. For months, they have been working up a plan to launch in New Jersey, where they now have their U.S. headquarters in Hoboken. They are partnering with Ocean Casino and Resort for their official launch.
Joachim Baca, Group CEO, commented: “We are very excited to be expanding our mobile sportsbook offering to a new international market. At Tipico, we are truly passionate about enhancing the thrill of sport, bringing fans even closer to the game they love. Regulatory approval from the state of New Jersey is another significant step toward introducing U.S. consumers to our unique sports betting platform.”
What has also helped Tipico with the New Jersey launch is Sportsradar, a data company that will share sports data with the German sportsbook. This will allow the German sports betting operator to share data with customers and make more logical bets.
Sportsradar has formed official data partnerships with all four major sports in the U.S. this year. Tipico will be a beneficiary of Sportsradar’s growth.
Can Tipico Compete in New Jersey
In short, yes, Tipico should be able to get a decent market share of New Jersey sports bettors and the ones coming from New York.
Tipico is known to have sharp lines, so the most skilled sports bettors are attracted to Tipico, and should be the same in the U.S. There is no telling how big of a company Tipico can grow in the U.S.
William Hill, a U.K. sportsbook, has had a lot of success in the U.S. since starting in Nevada in 2012. Now, Tipico will look to find success after being a popular sportsbook over in Europe.
Tipico will need to have a solid sign-up bonus or deposit bonus for new customers to get more traction. Partnering with Sportsradar and Ocean Casino and Resort is also huge for the German sports betting operator to succeed.
Regardless, starting in New Jersey should help with Atlantic City becoming Las Vegas of the east. The early months will tell how well Tipico will perform in the U.S.
