Baseball fans in New York City would love to have another Subway Series, and there is actually a good chance that it could happen this season. Both of the teams in New York have gotten off to huge starts this season, but there is still plenty of work to be done.
The Yankees have been one of the World Series betting favorites all season long, and the Mets have now
joined them as a favorite. There are other teams in the mix as well, but it’s hard to pick against the Yankees and the Mets.
It is the New York Yankees that are the clear betting favorites to win the World Series this year as they have odds set at +400. The Mets are a bit further down on the list, but they are still well respected with odds set at +700.
In between the Yankees and the Mets are a pair of teams that always seem to be in the mix as well. The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently at +450 to win the title, and the Houston Astros check in at +600.
Braves Charging in NL East
The New York Mets seemingly never lost a series through the first two months of the season, and that allowed them to jump out to a big lead in the NL East Division. The Mets are still on top of the East, but they are starting to get a strong challenge from the Atlanta Braves.
New York is the clear betting favorite at -165 to win the NL East, and the Atlanta Braves are now at +160. Those odds looked very different at the start of June and will likely change in the coming weeks.
This has turned into a two-team race as the Philadelphia Phillies are way down the list at +1700.
Astros a Threat in AL
The Yankees and Astros have developed a terrific rivalry over the last few seasons, and it all dates back to postseason meetings. New York still has odds set at +175 to win the AL this season, but the Astros are
right behind them at +250.
The Chicago White Sox were supposed to be a threat to win the American League this season, but they now have odds set at just +1500 to win the pennant. A trio of AL East teams actually trail the Yankees and Astros as the Toronto Blue Jays (+600), Boston Red Sox (+1200), and Tampa Bay Rays (+1300) are all in the mix.
New York Winning Both MVPs?
Not only could the state of New York have the winner of each league in baseball, but they could also claim both MVP Awards. MVP odds tend to change pretty frequently as the season moves along, but a
pair of sluggers are in the mix.
Aaron Judge is the betting favorite to win the MVP Award in the AL as he has odds set at -125. Shohei Ohtani is next on the list at +270, and Mike Trout is always in the mix as well.
Pete Alonso is not the current betting favorite in the National League, but he does have favorable odds at +500. Paul Goldschmidt leads the NL MVP award betting race at +115 after having a monster start to the season.
