The Major League Baseball season is now two months old, meaning teams have completed more than one-third of their schedule. Even though the MLB season is 162 games long, the season seems to slip by in a hurry.
Both the New York Mets and Yankees are off to solid starts in 2021, and both teams should factor in the playoff races throughout the season. There is a chance that another Subway Series could be on tap, but each team still has work left to do.
Now that the calendar has flipped to June, it is a great time to take a look at the updated future betting odds for the top betting markets. These include the odds to win the division, pennant, and the World Series.
These odds are all changing weekly, if not daily, but fans of both teams have to like where each team is sitting currently. There is more value when betting on the Yankees at this time, but that could change by the time the calendar flips to July.
Updated Odds to win World Series
The New York Yankees had the second-best odds to win the World Series when the season began, but that is no longer the case. The Yankees have just been too inconsistent this season, and injuries have played a role once again.
It is the New Yankees sitting at +850 to win the World Series this year, and the Mets are right behind them at +950. Both teams currently sit inside the top-five, but they are looking up at three great teams.
The Los Angeles Dodgers remain the betting favorite at +340, and they have been favored this entire season. The Chicago White Sox and the San Diego Padres are next on the list at +700 for each team.
Both in Mix For Pennant
In order for the Subway Series to take place, but the Mets and Yankees would first have to win the pennant. Both teams have favorable odds to accomplish this feat, but neither team is the favorite.
In the American League, it is the Chicago White Sox that is the favorite at +300. The Yankees are right behind them at +380, followed by the Tampa Bay Rays at +480.
The Los Angeles Dodgers (+165) and the San Deigo Padres (+370) are both ahead of the New York Mets in the National League. The Mets have odds set at +500, but those odds continue to shorten as the team builds up its lead in the NL East.
Mets Favored in NL East
In the National League East, the Mets have emerged as clear betting favorites to win that division. The Atlanta Braves were the betting favorites before the season began, but that team just hasn’t been able to play with any real consistency.
The Mets are -250 to win the NL East, making them the biggest favorite in the Senior Circuit. Atlanta is next on the list at +310, but those odds could change if the Braves are able to get things turned around.
The Yankees are no longer the favorites to win the AL East, as that title belongs to the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay is being offered at +125, and the Yankees are next on the list at +175.
